Scientologist Van Susteren a-Twitter over Sarah’s Media Buzz//UPDATE

Greta is having her own after-glow, because her guest, Sarah Palin, stole the show before and after the annual White House Correspondents drunken one night stand with the people they cover.

She writes today:

“What is fascinating to watch is how the media (all of them!) just can’t get enough of Governor Sarah Palin. They were all taking pictures of her with themselves for souvenirs and writing about her. She was prominent in the Washington Post coverage, Politico and I think the New York Times. Her name and picture was everywhere!
With all the movie stars at the dinner, and big media and government names (Cabinet Secretaries and Senators etc.), whose picture does Vanity Fair show? You guessed it …(and she was only at their after party and not the dinner!)

After her vicious attacks on me last summer–she called me “The Wasilla Stalker”–I’m not eager to give Van Susteren credit, but she nailed it with the observation above.

The very same mainstream media that writes Sarah off from Monday to Friday gets into a tizzy of excitement if they get to meet her in person on Saturday night.

Is it hypocritical and revolting? Of course it is. But media outlets like Vanity Fair are the cash cows come to worship at Sarah’s altar, and we can hardly blame her for milking them for all they’re worth. And they love every tug on the teat she gives them.

UPDATE:

Even our friend Andrew Sullivan got caught up in the festive atmosphere.

Unfortunately, he missed the chance to ask Sarah face-to-face if she’d actually given birth to Trig.

I was just going to post on this over at your other post. Yes, it’s hypocritical and revolting but it’s equally revolting that Greta fawns over and promotes this fraud every chance she gets…fair and balanced and all that!

  • FrostyAK:

    Gag me with a chainsaw.

  • Twirling in a tizzy is what allows the MSM to stand still and not look back. That way they don’t have to say, “Run that birth story by us again?” It’s difficult to imagine what the Scientologists make of it all. But I’ve asked two doctors what they think. Here’s the first:

  • Freesia:

And we wonder why they’ve never touched the Wild Ride or the most miraculous birth story since the baby Jesus?

They’ll never cover it as long as they’re polishing Palin’s Bump-It. (By the way, after her career made of race baiting and hate mongering – how is that David Duke wasn’t invited?)

It’s going to have to be investigated by independent journalists, bloggers and biographers. That’s crystal clear now. And if they don’t do it, that pariah is never going to stop.

Appears to be a mother – daughter contest going on. Who has more plastic surgery. We’ve watched over time the changes of Sarah and now there is Bristol – 20 years old with a new face.

Joe, if you look at Gryphen’s site, you will see the side by sides of Bristol – Eyes, nose, lips, chin. The oval face is no longer as the cheek to chin has been chiseled away.

It still remains – money can’t buy you class!! Hope Bristol continues to earn $$$ as maintenance isn’t cheap either and the Palin’s $$$ treasure chest will not last forever!! Won’t be long before their phone calls are not returned or when they identify themselves, the response is “WHO????”

If the hoax perpetrated by Palin had occurred in any other country, she certainly would not be the media celebrity she continues to be in the U.S. For some bizarre reason the American main stream media seems unable or unwilling to use their investigative powers when it comes to this woman. Time after time, revelations are published by the few bloggers & writers intelligent enough to have actually questioned her unfathomable actions, yet, it seems to have little or no affect in keeping her out of the political arena. A sad & frustrating thing to witness, indeed.

  • lilybart:

Amazing. Life is just a game to politicians and journalists. Palin’s ugly rhetoric and constant lies actually hurt this country and yet, after the workday, it is all yucks with the very people who are making life harder for most Americans.

  • Samantha:

Amazing how Greta talks about “the media” as if she’s not part of it. In fact, she’s the worst part that facilitates and promotes this fraud on a regular basis. And what’s with the faux surprise? Does Greta REALLY not know why Sarah Palin gets attention? Why doesn’t Greta just ask herself why she’s so personally enthralled with Sarah? (There’s really no mystery there).

Sarah Palin has built a career on her looks, personality, and biting tongue. Lots of people like that are popular. This is nothing new. You might recall when we all noticed this, in high school. Well the rest of life is exactly like high school only amplified. (Duly noted in fact, by SP’s phrase ‘nerd prom’, and Sullivan’s admissions). I, myself in fact would be interested in meeting her. It doesn’t mean I respect her, or even like her. But it certainly would be a hoot, wouldn’t it? This is just human nature. (Greta, dear, don’t confuse it with admiration.)

  • Mary:

Sorry, but I must disagree with Greta. What is really fascinating to watch is a grown woman fawning over another woman in this way. You’d think Palin was her daughter or girlfriend or something. Kind of sad. Sadder still is our pathetic MSM.

    Andrew’s closing sentence was funny.

  • Freesia:

    Wasn’t it? lol

And Mary I think Greta’s fawning is reminiscent of one of those girls in high school who followed around the girl she perceived as popular like a faithful puppy, hoping that her idol’s popularity would rub off, doing all of her bidding lest she lose her approval. That’s what they make me think of. Pathetic.

    Palin@VF:

“The slightly more viable potential candidates Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin both attended the V.F. bash. In fact, Palin was the very first guest to arrive, stopping by 25 minutes before the party officially began. (Unless she was still on Alaska time, in which case she was four hours and 25 minutes early.) She was later joined by her husband, Todd, and Greta Van Susteren of Fox News. Palin wore a flag pin on her lapel; Van Susteren wore a suit.

The Palins eventually found themselves outnumbered by other guests: media moguls Arianna Huffington and Rupert Murdoch, mayors Michael Bloomberg and Rahm Emanuel chatted on the stone patio. ”

Well, it will make her great fall so much sweeter though! Plus, think of it this way-she is really doing some great publicity for your (and the other two) upcoming books. Additionally, who doesn’t like to watch a trashy train wreck?

  • Lisabeth:

I think there is something really odd about the way Greta seems obsessed with Sarah. She always is defending her.
It reminds me of the way RAM idolizes her. There’s more to it- I just can’t pinpoint what. Sarah certainly doesn’t return the adoration and she would dump them fast if they weren’t helping her.
Just like she’s dumped previous supporters who asked the wrong question or got in the way or she thought she didn’t need them any more. She’s a user and I bet many in Wasilla have had this experience with her.

  • lee:

How quickly the media forgets about those who died in Tuscon, Arizona, including a nine year old child. The $paylin free month the media asked for, was deliberately requested, hoping all will forget.

  • True Blue Girl:

Sarah arrived first and 25 minutes early, which says it all. We give her too much credit. She’s pathetic in her neediness, even if she is a lying grifter. Her instinctive skill at exploiting others makes her a special kind of aggressive parasite. But nevertheless her appearance, behavior and comments are cringeworthy, hillbilly embarrassments. She’ll never be better at anything than she is today. Too much work, not enough pay. It’s downhill from here. Just a question of how it will play out.

  • emrysa:

greta is so full of it. no one takes her seriously, I am surprised she still has a job.

of course the quitter can hire her as a cheerleader when faux finally sees that greta is a joke and decides to let her go. if greta had any self-respect at all she would have stopped cheerleading for the quitter a long time ago.

  • emrysa:

meant to add that I loved sullivan’s comment: “What a figure. She must be at least 8 months along by now.”

  • emrysa:

in any other country, sp would be in an asylum. does not bode well for the us.

  • serena1313:

Whatever prominence and attention, which is by far way too much, the media have bestowed on Sarah Palin there is one thing we can be grateful for, the public isn’t buying it — as reflected in the precipitous drop in her poll numbers. Therefore that tells me that any attempt to resurrect Palin’s standing with the voters is bound to fail.

Of course some media personalities will continue to fawn over Sarah, but it will take a lot more than that to move public opinion — i.e. Sarah, herself. And we know how well that has worked out.

Since the majority of Americans remain unconvinced, it is inconceivable that anything short of some sort of a “miracle” (for lack of a better word) will or could change our minds. So for the time being we can rest somewhat easy in that Sarah Palin is toast, at least for now. Nevertheless with others just as incompetent and extreme, if not more so, coming to the forefront we cannot rest on our laurels for too long, otherwise … we’ll be caught off-guard.
